OVERVIEW

StayHome is an app encouraging social distancing by informing the user about the impact he can have on the spread of the epidemic. It also features clear information about theCovid-19 and the sanitary precautions to adopt, and about ways to fight the virus from home with for example, tutorials to sew a mask and make hydroalcoholic gel...

CONTEXT

As a team of 4 UX/UI design students we participated to the EUvsVirus Hackathon which was held during the 1st 2020 confinement. That was an occasion for us to develop our skills, to work under pressure, to be creative and innovative in a real crisis context without solutions, gain experience and abilities to grow.

OBJECTIVE

Ensure the population from COVID-19 by many ways: Inform them with local and European news to give statistics about the situation in Europe.Help in our everyday life by posting queues in front of stores in real time and prevent from a potential case of disease with an interactive map (geolocation). Communicate by emotes with neighbours around us.

PROCESS

First we made researches to find innovative and useful functionalities that can respond to the crisis, then we created personas to define our needs. We've made a user-flow to create the structure of our service and finally we brought the UX/UI part and we prototyped our ideas into screens.

PERSONAE

Salomé, 23 years old
While Salomé was revising for her exams, the announcement of confinement upset her studies. Since then, despite her need for the outdoors, she has tried to limit her outings as much as possible and to follow the evolution of the confinement instructions. Her expectations are to concretely prevent the spread of the virus. Encourage others to stay at home. Keep abreast of the latest government decisions regarding containment. Understand the impact of its containment or its exits on the spread of the virus.

Fred, 46 years old
Teleworking for a few weeks, Fred has more and more difficulty in staying still in his apartment ... He knows that many things escape him in this situation and feels powerless in the face of the spread of the virus. His expectations are to act most effectively. Realize what your whims can cost others. Feel less alone and isolated in this experience.

FUNCTIONNALITIES

1- Indications of how many people the user potentially contaminated in a day. This number is based on the probability data of the Covid-19 and its spread statistics, put in relation with the user’s outside activities (using his phone's geolocation and his home address).

2- A dashboard of the epidemic's progression based on European contamination cases and deaths. The data is presented through graphs or a map of EU and each country.

3- Up to date and official information on the epidemic and governments' quarantine rules: medical progress and discoveries, sanitary prevention rules, certificates... Advice will also be shared in order to encourage organized homemade initiatives such as masks templates, hydro-alcoholic recipes, nutrition, sport and health tips.

4- A quick daily form to check if the user has any Coronavirus symptoms. The health status of the users are visible on a map to show where people are more likely to be in contact with the virus.

5- A peak hour graph, showing the time of the day when most people go out, in order to avoid the crowds and to be able to respect the 6 feet distance with other.

INTENTIONS

We chose to explore one of the most impactful issues of the crisis: social distancing, in order to find an innovative concept with really efficient solutions. We tried to elaborate the perfect tool to prepare and educate people to live in this weird period, stay safe and keep others safe. We worked as a team basing ourselves on our strength and facilities to be efficient and competent in our application domain.

WORK ORGANISATION

We worked together and brought up ideas as well as researches to better understand the needs and problems for the coming weeks of post-lockdown. We found an innovative concept with efficient solutions to respect quarantine, social distancing, etc ... We have done collaborative work where each one had specific tasks to accomplish: UX and UI, prototyping, digital illustration, communication and video making. We used many softwares like Adobe XD, Illustrator, photoshop, PremierePro and Notion to lead our project.

FOR THE REST..

- Eventually use an account to save data of users.
- Re-use-it for other cases and diseases.
